The Artist
Tamara Buchanan
Tamara Buchanan is a sculptor of stone.
Preferring to work with organic forms, her
sculptures may be either representational or
abstract. Her work ranges from large scale
public sculpture, to pieces small enough to
hold in one's hand. By using figure and form,
her sculptures often explore the development
of self; in relation to self and the outer world.
Each piece, though unique, invites touch,
reflection, and often a smile.

Since 1989, Tamara has participated in many
juried, non-juried, and invitational shows where
her work has won several awards. A graduate
of the University of Washington, she studied
sculpture with Lorraine Ledbetter of Vashon
Island, WA and George Pratt of Vancouver, BC.
Her skills were further advanced in the studios
of Silverio Paoli in Pietrasanta, Italy and Mauro
Berretini, of Sienna, Italy. She has participated
in the NWSSA International Sculpture
Symposia since 1987.
